Cookie Review: Chocolate Chip Cookie Cupcakes — Mrs. Field’s

I found a cookie review that I HAD to repost. Nancy Luna of the OC Register spotted chocolate chip cookie cupcakes at Mrs. Field’s and had to taste test.

In short, the Mrs. Field’s chocolate chip cookie cupcakes are just really thick cookies baked into cupcake molds with frosting on top. They look so cute this way!

They have regular sized ones and minis. The regular sized ones are $2.95 each and the minis are $3.95 for 5. Ms. Luna’s experience with this cookie: “It was like biting into a thick, chewy chocolate chip cookie with very bad frosting on top.” Pass. However, the first commenter said that she shared a regular sized one with her two teenage daughters and they all loved it! Size could be a factor in how these come out if the cookie dough is the same (I myself am not a fan of the cookie cake. Too big, so the cookie dough comes out cakey.). Personally I’m not really into frosting, but I’m really glad I came across this review.

What do you think? Is it a good idea to merge desserts or should we keep them on opposite sides of the ring?

Cookies with Caffeine?

Coffee has the opposite affect on me: it makes me sleepy. I know, I’m a freak, right? When I came across this blog post about Buzz Strong’s Caffeinated Cookies, I was curious to try them, but I am afraid I wouldn’t be able to give an accurate review of them just because coffee straight out of the cup doesn’t work for me. Instead I’m going to give you an excerpt from Gizmodo’s Danny Allen:

11am: Ugh. Want to go back to bed…Holy mother of Brewtus I need a coffee, maybe a bacon and egg bagel, too. I’m trying Buzz Strong’s Caffeinated Cookies, instead. They’re made with Swiss dark and white chocolate chips, not to mention Brazilian coffee. Let’s see here: 12 cookies in a $US5 box; 4 cookies equal 1 cup of coffee. Pretty heavy on the coffee flavour, but these things actually taste pretty good.
11:30am: Ended up eating 6 cookies, along with a banana smoothie to better line my stomach. Don’t want to get sick, plus milk and cookies is always a win.

12pm: Should not have munched on those extra two cookies. Feeling bloated (my stupid fault), but also more awake. Overall, thumbs up for Buzz Strong’s Caffeinated Cookies, and I’m sure they’re a much better afternoon snack than breakfast. Gotta shower and brush cookie from my teeth.

He goes on to describe various other caffeinated snacks including gum, mints and chocolate. I was just the most interested in the cookie part :) He says it’s good and it works — and you get to eat FOUR cookies to have one cup of coffee! One cookie has 70 calories, so that’s quite a hefty 280-calorie cup of coffee. No wonder our friend Danny here was bloated after eating 6!

Now. I must pass this on to John Carlson, our cookie dipper who had his cookies with coffee. I wonder if John knows he doesn’t have to do that anymore, and can have it all in one (er, four) cookie?!

Cookie Review: Every Burger Cookie

Yes, I said “Every Burger.” My sister found these at the Korean Market, Zion (despite the cookies being Japanese):

Cookie: Every Burger

Cookie: Every Burger

(the 2 indicates that there are 2 trays of cookie burgers inside. Can’t read anything else but the title. Anyone care to translate?)

Cookie Every Burger

Cookie Every Burger

Again, a translator would be helpful.

The sis and I were so very curious. We eagerly lifted up the flap of the box and we could not stop laughing and gushing over these cookies!!

Cookie Every Burger

Cookie Every Burger

Isn’t that the cutest?!?! A cookie that looks like a hamburger! I don’t eat beef — but this is a burger I can eat!!! Two biscuits sandwiching a layer of chocolate. And they’re bite-sized!

Cookie Every Burger

Cookie Every Burger

Perhaps even half the size of a bite. If you know what Hello Panda is, it tastes VERY similar to that. The biscuits are not dry and there’s a really good amount of chocolate in there. Full of taste and crunch. A very unique, cute, entertaining and delicious snack! Can I have some cookie fries with that?

  • Taste: Good to know that this company didn’t only rely on the cuteness of the cookie to get them by; the cookies actually taste good. 8
  • Crust and center moistness: relieved to taste that the “buns” weren’t dry, because they kinda look a little dry. and the record-breaking SoCal heat wave has made the chocolate melt to the perfect texture!
  • Value: $1.69 — great value! Just under $2!
  • Overall: If you’re jonesing for a snack and you come across this, put it in your “to get” list replacing Hello Panda (and don’t forget to pick up some Pocky and Yan Yan). 8

F cup cookie fail.

Ugh.. My attempts to find the mysterious “does it really work” f cup cookies failed :( . I went to Nijiya and Mitsuwa both in the westside and they were not there. Hopefully they will be in Little Tokyo… If anyone knows where they can be found please let me know!

**EDIT: I have found someone who is taking these cookies and is willing to help me out by reviewing the F-cup cookies. I’m going to start a series of her experiences. Please let me know if you are eating these cookies and would like to share your thoughts and progress!! Part 1 starts here: http://chloescookieblog.com/2009/09/f-cup-cookies-review-part-1

F-Cup Cookie

Okay, so, I sometimes wish I had bigger boobs. I’ll admit that. Wow, that was a load off my chest *whew*

So imagine my curiosity when I found out about these:

F-Cup Cookie

Boobs on a cookie box? What? The F-Cup cookie was introduced in Japan (of course) about, I wanna say, 2 years ago. Mind you, they don’t claim to make your boobs an F-cup; F-cup in Japan is somewhere around a D-cup here. They contain the herb pueraria mirifica that acts like estrogen when in a female body. Does that mean it’ll help clear your skin too? Supposedly a cookie form of this will make your boobs grow. I found a Youtube video where someone gives a very informative and detailed description of the cookies:

She says she found them in Little Tokyo in SoCal, I might have to go and try to find them!! She says they’re not half-bad either. I could live with having to eat 2-3 of these a day. I wonder if, I mean, hypothetically speaking, just purely out of wonderment, if one had different-sized boobs, would it help even it out? If one slept on one side after eating it would that help the smaller of the two boobs grow?

MAN! A cookie that can help your boobs grow. There’s also the cookie diet where eating the cookies helps you lose weight (…funny how I don’t believe that more than I don’t believe the breast enhancement cookies). I wonder if they can make a cookie that makes you taller. Or more efficient. Or faster. Or smarter. Or more patient. Or have stronger hair and nails. Or grow more muscles. The possibilities are endless.. I just wish R&D and technology would move as fast as I come up with ideas!! What else do you wish cookies could do?

Cookies, Michael Jackson style

Cookies, Michael Jackson style

It’s about time that I found a MJ cookie. Alliance Bakery in Chicago (would anyone out there in cyber world mind sending me one or two or ten??? :( ) is celebrating Michael Jackson’s life with heart-shaped Michael Jackson -themed sugar cookies with MJ’s face on it in icing (white icing, if you’re curious). Apparently according to Chicagoist, the faces are different, but all Michael Jackson.

I think the artist is great, the face is definitely MJ :) Who / what else would you like to see on a cookie? I wouldn’t mind biting into a little bit of John Krasinski. Or Ryan Reynolds. Or Justin Timberlake… hmm i think i got a new business idea!
